If you wish to allow your lawyer to act on your behalf should you need to return to your home country, a power of attorney has to be signed in front of a public notary.
This means that you can then allow your lawyer to issue a Greek Tax Number (AFM), deal with bank transfers for your property purchase, represent you at the Greek authorities and of course sign the contract in your absence.
